The problem we set out to solve
Life-insurance distribution runs on a brutal attrition curve: 93% of newly licensed agents leave within their first year, and much of that churn traces back to operational friction rather than a lack of talent. Agencies stitch together separate systems for dialing, lead capture, scheduling, policy management and reporting, leaving agents to swivel between disconnected tools with no single source of truth. Data falls through the cracks, duplicate leads pile up, follow-ups get missed, and managers lose visibility into what is actually driving production. This tool sprawl taxes exactly the moments that determine whether a new agent succeeds or washes out, turning day-to-day admin into a silent productivity killer across the whole book of business.
How we built it
Map the full distribution workflow
We mapped the end-to-end life-insurance sales motion — from lead ingestion to policy issuance and ongoing reporting — to identify every point where agents were forced to leave one system for another. This became the blueprint for a single, connected workflow rather than a bundle of features.
Build a unified data model
We designed a shared PostgreSQL data model so leads, contacts, appointments and policies live in one canonical record. Every module reads and writes to the same source of truth, eliminating the duplicate entry and reconciliation that plague multi-vendor stacks.
Embed Orbi AI into every record
We integrated an OpenAI-powered assistant directly into the record layer, so drafting, summarizing and next-best-action suggestions happen in context rather than in a separate tab. Orbi AI turns the platform from a system of record into a system of action.
Wire in compliant, scalable communications
We built the dialing and messaging stack on Twilio to support power dialing, mass dialing and local presence at agency scale. Communication events flow straight back into the record, keeping every touchpoint logged and reportable.
Harden for regulated distribution
We deployed on AWS with security designed for regulated insurance distribution, covering access controls, auditability and data protection. This let agencies standardize their operations on Flownected with confidence in compliance posture.
