The problem we set out to solve
Standing up a payment gateway that plugs directly into core banking is one of the highest-stakes builds in fintech: it must move real money, satisfy the full weight of PCI DSS, and support 3D Secure and mobile wallets without exception. There is no margin for error, because a payment gateway that goes down takes revenue and trust with it, so the launch itself has to be seamless with zero downtime. Integrating with legacy core-banking systems while meeting strict European and local regulatory expectations for the Cyprus market compounds the difficulty. Security and compliance cannot be retrofitted; they have to be designed in from the first line of code. The mandate was a fully compliant, production-grade gateway that launched flawlessly.
How we built it
Core-banking integration
We integrated the gateway directly with core banking APIs so transactions settle end to end through the bank's own systems.
PCI DSS by design
Security and compliance were built in from the start, architecting the Node.js platform to meet PCI DSS requirements throughout.
3D Secure and wallet support
We implemented 3D Secure authentication alongside Apple Pay and Google Pay to cover modern, secure payment methods from launch.
Zero-downtime launch
The cutover was planned and executed so the gateway went live for the Cyprus market without any service interruption.
